Mail Box App

Mailbox App

App Description:  According to its developer, Mailbox is “The fast, fun mobile inbox that puts email in its place. Currently for Gmail and iCloud accounts. Other email platforms coming soon.”

They redesigned the inbox to make email light, fast, and mobile-friendly. Quickly swipe messages to your archive or trash and scan entire conversations in a chat-like view. It’s a whole new inbox.

Price: Free

Difficulty of Use:  We thought it was really easy to use.  In minutes we were deleting emails from our inbox.

Pros:

  • You can color code your tasks timer
  • It is really easy to use
  • Continuous alert that sounds until the person using the app taps OK
  • Ability to save multiple timers for routine activities or family members

Cons:

  • Although I’m in love with the idea of this app and tried very hard to fall in love with it, I wasn’t able to.  I am one of those people that likes to use my inbox as a to-do box (I know, I shouldn’t!) so I wanted Mailbox to work for me.  I like that it allowed me to categorize my emails based on the action, that part was great.  However, there were too many functions not there for it to be a keeper for me.  A few of these include not being able to save drafts, not being able to use folders for subjects, no search function.  The lack of search function was a deal breaker for me.  The other main issue I had with it was that I could never figure out where to find my archived emails when I wasn’t using the Mailbox app.  It’s great that they were archived and easy to find on the app, but when I pulled up my gmail on my laptop I could never find where they had gone.  Mailbox has started down a great path and I’ll definitely be waiting for someone to take it where it needs to go.
