Stay Out of The Heat With These Organizing Projects

It’s the height of summer and the holidays are over until Labor Day. As the long days of summer stretch before you, you can stay out of the heat (or the latest tropical storm) with these organizing projects.

BACK TO SCHOOL ORGANIZING PROJECTS

Sure, the school year is still a couple months away. But this is a great time to go through school clothes and supplies so that you can watch for sales over the next couple of months as you build your kids’ school wardrobes and stock up on school supplies. Donate what is still usable, and get the rest out of the house and into the trash.

CLOSET ORGANIZING PROJECTS

Crank the air conditioning and tackle the closet. Closets need organized on a regular basis because it’s easy to fall back into old habits of just putting everything in the space. If you’ve been trying to decide what clothes to keep and what to donate, this is a good time of year to see what you’ve actually worn in the last six months. If you have things in your closet that you haven’t worn in six months or longer, it’s time to ask yourself why you have it. There are reasons to hold on to certain items, but often, we’re hanging on “just in case.”

KITCHEN ORGANIZING PROJECTS

From junk drawers to refrigerators, it’s a great time of year to get your kitchen organized. It may not seem like a big deal right now, but as of the date of this blog, Christmas is only a little more than 5 months – 170 days – away. The winter holidays will be here faster than we arrived at July, so there’s really no time to lose.

ORGANIZE THE GARAGE

You may not care right now that your car doesn’t fit in the garage, unless you’ve already burned your fingers on the steering wheel, but you will definitely care when winter comes and you’re out scraping the windshield or traipsing through the cold to get to your car. Use bins, hanging boards, overhead storage, and shelf space to make your garage something the car can come home to again.

It’s hot outside – hotter than it’s been in any summer on record in many places. When you’re not finding ways to stay cool with the kids at the public pool or splash pad, it’s a great time to point all the fans your way, turn on the AC and complete these organizing projects. Your future self will thank you.
