How Do I Recycle… Christmas Lights?
You have officially survived the holidays season. Now it’s time to take the decorations down, organize, and pack them away.
This is a great time to donate any of the items you didn’t use or plan on ever using again… You know, that gift someone gave you several years ago and you feel really guilty about donating it.
You know that you are not going to display it in your home, so I give you permission to Just Do it! Give it away!
Everyone that knows me, knows how much of a “tree hugger” I am. So, this year, I am going to help people dispose of unwanted items in an environmentally friendly way every week.
You are probably wondering what to do with all those holiday lights that no longer work? Yes, the ones you just put in your garage, basement, or storage room.
There are a few things you can do with them. But, please don’t throw them away in the trash.
You can mail them & get a coupon for future purchase:
Holiday LEDs Lights Recycle Program – Ship to them and receive a coupon. They will accept your lights from October – February.
You can drop them off at community electronic recycling events.
Locally you can drop them off at Fairfax County – Electric Sundays or Loudoun County Recycling Events
Securis (Previously the PC Recycler) will take them on a monthly basis. They will recycle anything with a plug!
