Book Club – Worn Stories
This month the Maniacs book club read Worn Stories by Emily Spivack – a collection of famous artists or public figures’ short stories about a piece of clothing that holds an important story for them. Each story is less than two pages but filled with life and emotion and accompanied by a photograph of the article of clothing being discussed.
The Maniacs enjoyed reading these stories, as they resonated with us and the work that we do in helping people to organize their homes. Some of us were inspired by stories of people finally gathering the courage to live their dreams, others laughed with the narrator as they shared past events, some were touched by how deeply these people connected with their chosen item.
Worn Stories invited us into the intimate world of people’s memories and we were thankful for the permission to learn from them, be inspired by them, and be reminded that we all have stories that are worth telling.
